The MMW Alumni would like to invite you to come out and take part in the MMW Magic City Classic Tailgate, on Saturday October 31, 2009 at 10:00 PM, where the Bulldogs of Alabama A&M University take on the Hornets of Alabama State University.

With this being said, it is necessary that everyone that plan to participate act now, and get your money in today. In order to successfully cover the cost of all tailgating expenditures, each participating Alumni is asked for a minimum of $30 ($60 per couple or family).

Make checks/money orders payable to Marlon Evans and mail to: P.O. Box 303, Red Oak, GA 30272.

this event is open to anybody and everybody, the money from this event goes to THE MMW MARCHING BAND AND THE JCCEO scholarship FUND. THE FEE FOR THIS EVENT COVERS- FOOD, MUSIC, DRINKS, AND FUN. SEE YOU THERE.Time:10:00AM Saturday, October 31st

I was talking to the mother of a current band member today. She told me that her child says that the band members do not come to practice and when they do they are lazy and unwilling to do what it necessary. She also said that the band is on the road constantly, week after week. The shocking news is that the administrators do not FEED the kids. If they think that they can get back to campus before the cafe closes they try to do that, but when it is closed the students have to fend for themselves. MMW FAmILY if this is true, IT IS WRONG. We were fed when we traveled. IF the band is receiving money for the competitions they attend, they need to take care of the kids. My son is in another HBCU band and they each get cash money before each road trip. If they spend it all, too bad, so they learn how to budget. I guess I would not come to praactice or give it my all if I felt that my school wasn't taking care of me. This is only about the BAND, you should hear what the kids say about the cafe and the dorms. It is EMBARRASSING to say the least. What can we do to help our beloved school. With Much love and respect. LC -1981 (by the way, the video from homecoming was a little dissapointing the quantity was good the quality was not)

NOW I MUST SAY DURING 1981-1986 WE WON ALL KINDS OF AWARDS AND FOR BEST BAND DIRECTOR, BEST FIELD SHOWS AND BEST BAND, SO WE MUST HAVE BEEN DOING SOMETHING RIGHT AND JUST DRUNK ALL THE TIME I TAKE THAT AS A SLAP IN THE FACE WE CAME TO PRACTICE AND DID THE WORK TO MAKE US A GREAT BAND DURING THAT TIME . I AM NOT IN THE FIGHT AND I AM NOT A FOURHORSEMAN. I JUST WANT OUR BAND TO BE GOOD , I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST MR. YATES OR MR WESLEY I LOVE THEM BOTH, BUT DONT SAY THAT WE WOULD MAKE IT AGAINST TODAYS BANDS THAT IS NOT TRUE. THIS IS A BIG MESS. WE NEED TO HELP SUPPORT OUR MMW AND WORK AS A FAMILY. WHY CANT WE GET ALONG. THERE ARE ALOT OF BANDS THAT ARE MUCH BETTER THAN WE ARE. 1. Bethune-Cookman . 2. FAMU ARE VERY GOOD THEY HAVE NOT CHANGED OVER THE YEARS, THEY HAVE NOT CHANGE THEIR STYLE AND THERE FIELD SHOWS ARE GREAT. WHY DID WE CHANGE FROM THE STYLE FROM THE LATE 70'S AND EARLY 80'S. THAT STYLE OF SNAP AND DRIVE 8 TO 5 IS WHAT WON US THE AWARDS OF THE 70'-80'S. I HAVE BEEN OUT OF THE LOOP FOR A WHILE BUT I CANT UNDERSTAND WHY ARE THINGS SO CRAZY NOW. THE BAND SOUNDS GREAT AND DOES LOOK GOOD, I HAVE TOLD MY THOUGHTS TO MR WESLEY AND MR YATES, AND OTHER STAFF MEMBERS OF OUR BAND SO I HAVE NO REASON TO LIE. BUT WE MUST ALL STOP THIS MESS AND WORK AS ONE BAND OLD SCHOOL AND NEW SCHOOL AND WORK FOR ONE GOAL, I WOULD LOVE TO SEE OUR BAND WIN

Success is a Team Sport Posted By : Cheryl E. Cook

Recently, I've been approaching highway driving a little differently. I look for opportunities to help another motorist out. I try to be a bit more aware of a turn signal that I can respond to rather than driving in the zone. What would happen if we all approached highway driving with the focus on helping each other arrive safely at our destinations? What if it were a team effort?
