The Four Horsemen

Let's talk about the future: Who would you want as your next Band Director of your beloved AAMU?

Derrick Yates or James Crumb?

The horsemen are interested to know what you think, keep in mind that Derrick Yates was an under achiever as a musician as well as a leader. How can he become the HEAD Band Director at a Major HBCU when he never came remotely close to being a leader while he was in school? He played 3rd Trumpet throughout his collegiate career and rumor has it that his senior recital would be a hit on YOU TUBE. It was terrible!!! Unfortunately, the new generation believes that he was a SECTION LEADER and created SUPER FIRST! Lol

James Crumb on the other hand has a track record of success, even though he's been an Assistant on a High School level, his programs have flourished year after year working along with Mr. Carlton Wright (I Like him too).

What we want you to understand is that Mr. Crumb did not become the musician/leader he is today by being a "Yes" man passing out water bottles for a band program, sliding in by default when his fearless leader fell ill. He earned it FAIR and SQUARE! I honestly believe that if Mr. Crumb interviewed for a job amongst his peers he wouldn't be a part of the Good 'ol Boy system and get it handed to him, HE WOULD QUALIFY AND EARN IT!

It's a shame that Derrick Yates will turn away quality musicians year after year (when there is recruiting done). How can you tell a kid that he needs to work on musicianship when YOU have NEVER had any? C'mon Yates Bb concert scale.....Play it......PLAY IT. Just like I thought. You can run but you can't hide..The TRUTH is in the MUSIC Yates. It's about to come out.

Horsemen?

Derrick Yates has destroyed the program; ya hear me? DESTROYED! The traditions of the Marching Maroon & White Band is gone. The march style, system, "look" of the band, etc. All gone. No discipline, showmanship, character, everything else...gone. Now if you are fit for the job, then those traits start with you; dude has none.

How can we listen to someone like you? It is my understanding that you were still wetting the bed at the age of 8. I was told that you could not color within the lines in the first grade. The way is which you talked about Yates was despicable. You sound like the Tea baggers yelling crap about our president. Let’s talk about your academic performances in undergrad. Most people perform better in a career after putting in a few years into development that they would after completing college. I hear your jealousy in every word you type. How well you played in the band is not the meter stick in which success is measured. I’m pretty you could really play that horn back in the day, but you are not anyone’s band director. Food for thought.

I think Carlton Wright would be a great candidate. He was and still is a great musician plus he marched with the MMW back in the early 1980s. The guy is well seasoned and has been a band director for many years. If Carlton ever reads this, "don't beat me up man" :)

Rodney Williams, if you support the efforts of this High School Band/Staff that's your business. I'll tell you like this, the only time I like "SLAW" is at a picnic on a plate next to my ribs. Not on the band field..LMAO!!!

I would not care if AAMU’s band was in a marble game with a one-eyed disable homeless man; I’m rolling with the bulldogs. One drum major, five drum majors, to quote a line from Fried Green Tomatoes “I don’t give a good got damn!” I could care less about the day to day operations of the band. There are many people on this site who share my view about the band program. By the way, who in the hell is “The Four Horseman.” I don’t remember anyone with that crab name. Please do not hide behind bogus names. In addition to having my picture on this site, I post my real name. Me, I have been known by many names on the “Hill” such as the following: Stretch, Second time around, Hog lips, Dusty Rhodes, Rod, Hot Rod, and Kisser. If you really knew me I was simply known as that “asshole.” You appear to have a problem with the administration of the band program. Don’t throw rocks and hide your hands. Put your name on the bottom line of your replies. That way we can make an informed decision about the merits of your argument.

Let me add that I really like James and Carlton. I have work with both in the past. They are great people. However, there are many more others you left out that are accomplished enough to lead a college band.

LOL @ the Horsemen slaw comment.

Stretch. By reading your post above, about you "not giving a damn"; that makes you a Cheerleader! GO BULLDOGS!!! LOL! Wow! I guess that also means that you don't "give a damn" about the University in general with that attitude. That's sad dude, but that's cool. Do you brother; but please believe that there are Bandsmen (old school & new school) that still "give a damn" about the band, and know that the band product could be MUCH better than what it is currently. We still got pride (forever) in the MMW, and we want the best. But oh? I forgot, you don't give a damn; so being slaw is cool with you.....GO BULLDOGS!!! you male cheerleader you....Twan

I'm gone end this; but I know it's killing you ( and probably many others) that you don't know the Four Horsemen identity; but that's alright though, say what you want, we like you, don't give a damn. We are hear for a purpose. We are the voice for anybody, who wants to tell Derrick Yates.......YOU SUCK! because it's all his fault. The Four Horsemen will never lie, and will only put out factual information.

Stay tuned.

WOW! I already know who you are. I don't know why it did not come to me earlier. Give me a call on my Cellular phone, the number is the same. I will tell you how you gave it away. Now that I know who you are, sorry about the earlier comments about bed wetting and coloring outside the lines. I will not talk like that to a longtime friend.

Success is a Team Sport Posted By : Cheryl E. Cook

Recently, I've been approaching highway driving a little differently. I look for opportunities to help another motorist out. I try to be a bit more aware of a turn signal that I can respond to rather than driving in the zone. What would happen if we all approached highway driving with the focus on helping each other arrive safely at our destinations? What if it were a team effort?
