I am quite sure the right-wingers are feeling real stupid. President Obama did his thing. I am proud of the brother.

Our President is so Good! He really put it on the line for our kids.

I think that is a yes/no response. As you well know some students are intrinsically and extrinsically motivated. I know as a kid my mom would say to me you would get $5.00 for every A on your report card, therefore, I had something to look forward to but on the other hand as life goes on you have to realize that everything you do in life is not going to be a reward. The way kids (students) are today something needs to put in place in order for them to have some type of motivation and/or incentive to come to school. I hate to say Calandra I am torn between this issue. I remember seeing this issue from last summers documentary Blacks in America on CNN

Saturday, August 8th is the date and 1:00 p.m. is the time that my church and community is going to pray at one of the high schools near by. If I get enough people to sign up we will be able to send people to all the elementary and middle schools close by and pray at the same time. If you plan to do this call and and ask the schools where you will be able to stand and pray without breaking any laws. It would be a beautiful sight if thousands of people prayed together at all of the schools in the nation at the same time. Pass the word because prayer is needed for our schools!!!

Hello to all my fellow Normalites who are doing their things. Yes, we are overworked and underpaid but that is another question. I enjoy teaching. It's challenging and rewarding. In my years I've seen some of my former students doing quite well in life.

Patrese Harris Summers,
I am in total agreement with you. Not only do we need to pray but we need to take back our professional authority as educators. I have organized an organization called Educators Eager for Change and we are addressing these and other issues head on. I'm currently working with a group of educators in my church. We've created a Local School Board. We're offering parent workshops on discipline and behavior intervention techniques. Grant writing, College preparatory class, Resume writing, financial planning, tutoring classes. If we don't take our communities back by empowering our parents who will? Educators we must take a stand and stress to the the parents, mayors, politicians, local board of commisioners. That teachers are paid to teach and not raise children. When will society make parents accountable? I don't have the answer to that question yet. However, I do know that pray will change things. Have a wonderful summer we all have earned it!

If you feel that schools are in turmoil and prayer is needed for our children I am proposing that the Saturday before school starts in the fall that you, your family, your co-workers, and church members pray outside of the schools. You can get your neighbors together and pray for the schools in your neighborhood. Something has to be done because the schools are getting worse (violence, drugs, sex, suicides etc...). Ask your pastors to get your churches involved. We have to call on God and his darling Son Jesus if we want to see a change. We can't do it alone. Have a great summer.

IT IS SO GREAT TO ACTUALLY SIT DOWN AND WATCH THE PRESIDENTIAL ADDRESS AND FEEL VERY PROUD TO BE BLACK AND AMERICAN. NOT ONLY THAT OUR PRESIDENT NOW CAN MODEL FOR BLACK FOLKS WHAT THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE SOUNDS LIKE WHEN IT IS SPOKEN CORRECTLY. THE ONLY QUESTION I HAVE IS HOW CAN HE REMEMBER EVERY WORD OF HIS SPEECH AND NEVER LOOK DOWN. OBAMA ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do believe that the children are our future.... But if something doesn't happen with our children, I shutter to see our future!

Success is a Team Sport Posted By : Cheryl E. Cook

Recently, I've been approaching highway driving a little differently. I look for opportunities to help another motorist out. I try to be a bit more aware of a turn signal that I can respond to rather than driving in the zone. What would happen if we all approached highway driving with the focus on helping each other arrive safely at our destinations? What if it were a team effort?
