Hello everyone!

Although school is out for most of us..thank God..here's a little something....
"When You Thought I Wasn't Looking!"
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you post my essay on the wall and I immediately wanted to write again.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you take care of a student who was sick and I learned that we have to care foe each other and family.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you intently listen to others who needed to express themselves and immediately I understood patience.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears come from your eyes after reading to the class a poem by Langston Hughes and I learned that it was okay to cry sometimes.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you discuss with my mom the difficulties we have been having in class and I learned team work.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw that you cared and I wanted to be everything I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw how you handled yourself under pressure and I learned that my actions tell a lot about my character.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I looked at you and wanted to say, "Thanks," for all the things I really saw, when you thought I wasn't looking!

" For all thoses teachers who do so much for others, youthful eyes see a lot!"

Out of the Mouths of Babes
Setting: The Lunch Room
The students were opening their ketchup packages. Two of the students used their fist to open it and of course it ended up on my blouse and in my hair. The Kindergarten Teacher insisted that they write letters. One of the letters I received read" I am sorry I got ketchup on your SHIT" The word intended shirt!! This brings laughter everytime I think of it . I framed the letter

Hi All,
I'm completing my 31st yr. in edu.; Eighth yr as principal. Would not do anything different at this point in time. I love my job, my students, teachers and school. Everything I have accomplished career wise is due to the knowledge I acquired on the "Hill" and my family.

Hello guys. There is no school like A&M. I have been to other schools and there is no place like home. Experience is the best teacher, but still The Hill did the best job in preparing me for the classroom. I love what I do...I can't see myself doing anything else.

hello! i must agree with those who have already spoken and said that teaching is not a job - it's a calling. This is not something you do because you need to pay the bills or this is what your degree was in. This is what you are called to do, almost like preaching. I know that may sound drastic, but nowadays if you step into a classroom talking about teaching and it's NOT your calling we might be reading about you in the newspaper for either attacking someone's child or being attacked (read in ACTS 19 about the seven sons of Sceva). I did not major in education (fashion merchandising) and had no desire to teach, I was called into it. I have been teaching in urban middle schools in Mobile for 7 years, high school one and taught abstinence education for one year in the middle schools. Since 1999 when I started teaching these children have drastically changed, so I know for those educators in the field for 20 and 30 years it's a culture shock. Some parents (not all but some) don't RAISE their children. They birth them and kind of let them raise themselves. Our students have no bedtimes, they are allowed to watch and listen to whatever suits them, and they dress like a video whore and some idiot gangsta rapper. Where are the parents who monitor what their children watch on TV and listen to on the radio? Where are the parents who monitor telephone calls and who their children hang out with. How do you not know where your child is after school? I know I may sound old-fashioned, but if we don't get some parents to invest time with their children and stop sacrificing them on the altar of self, we will be reaping the whirlwind from the seeds we have sown. Our children need what we had - structure, discipline, love, attention, momma AND daddy! And guess what? If they aren't getting it from home, they need us to step in and make THE difference. That is why this is a calling. Many times my job is not over when duty is over at 2:45PM. I have students who have confided to me about incest, no daddy, no momma, no friends, misunderstood - these kids are seeking and looking for something or someone. That's why I am a 4-H volunteer. That's why I am an FCCLA Advisor. That's why I teach Vacation Bible School. That's why I mentor young girls. And if they need me to lead them to Christ, I do that to! Because to whom much is given, much is required. We as educators will be held to a higher level of accountablity. God has placed us strategically where He wants us to be for such a time as this. We must stand up, overcome the adversities thrown at us (yes, thrown!) and be the gatekeepers of the future that we are called to be.

Success is a Team Sport Posted By : Cheryl E. Cook

Recently, I've been approaching highway driving a little differently. I look for opportunities to help another motorist out. I try to be a bit more aware of a turn signal that I can respond to rather than driving in the zone. What would happen if we all approached highway driving with the focus on helping each other arrive safely at our destinations? What if it were a team effort?
