Yes, this job has it's challenges. It's unfortunate that an educator was attacked. I would have kicked that students .... you know the rest. It's kinda like why steal something small and go to jail when you can go for the gold. Needless to say, I have not had a student go there with me!But, I have seen students get crunked enough to almost go there (with someone else of course). I REALLY hope that WE (black folks) are paying attention to this presidental election. NCLB is leaving ALL minority children behind. Because I am out of the classroom and dealing exclusively with developing our educators, I am feeling it from a whole another angle. No one is being sent home because of the attendence piece in NCLB so, it leaves administrators and educators in the cold. Everybody is scared to send Bay Bay home because we have to make the attendence percentage.Plus Bay Bay mama ain't no where to be found when you send him home anyway. Then another problem is created. Bay Bay roams the neighborhood because he's idle.Breaks into your house now we have a potiential criminal on our hands. Please believe that the juvnille justice system is set up to fail our youth. NCLB is leaving US behind!! Please exercise your right to vote and stay informed! That's real talk!!Urban education is a BEAST!!!
Sidebar... please invest sometime into mentoring a young boy or girl. Give our babies a chance!
We are loosing our boys and girls daily.....

Did anyone see the clip on the Today Show of the teacher who got attacked by a student in her classroom in Baltimore? It is so disturbing! Her principal told her she should have used "trigger" words and seeked help from the adminstration! Now that is CRAZY!

Wow Chanda, that was deep! I totally feel you on that! We can not reach them all at the same time! I feel as long as they know that we care and are here for them...that make a huge difference! The students we deal with today, have so many issues, that for many of them school is not on the top of their list! Working in the inner city of "Cleveland," I here and see it all! we just have to remain focused and remain strong! These kids are OUR future FOR REAL!!!

Of course not, but it is value in knowing that you are a change agent. If you actually change, challenge and convert a young mind your assignment is complete. Continue to plant, water, and watch the fruits of your labor. As with any garden all the flowers will not bloom at the same time. You have to tend to the ones that will. Understand and accept this great assignment from God. Know that some are chosen, others are appointed!Be Blessed my educators. Know that there is a special place in Heaven for us.

Success is a Team Sport Posted By : Cheryl E. Cook

Recently, I've been approaching highway driving a little differently. I look for opportunities to help another motorist out. I try to be a bit more aware of a turn signal that I can respond to rather than driving in the zone. What would happen if we all approached highway driving with the focus on helping each other arrive safely at our destinations? What if it were a team effort?

Are You Growing Stars? Posted By : Cheryl E. Cook

Are you developing Rising Stars in your business or are they just Good-Luck-with-Getting-Your-Order-Right trainees? Are you laying out what you are expecting them to become? How do you set the stage for new employees, new contractors to become stars in your business?
