Next year (2009) the Talladega Races will be held the same weekend as the Magic City Classic! We need to inform everyone we know to go ahead NOW and secure hotel reservations! DO NOT WAIT UNTIL CLASSIC THIS YEAR, DO IT LIKE YESTERDAY!!!!!!!! This will definitely affect hotel accommodations; they (the race goers) are already booking. I urge you to spread the word to all HBCU’S and Classic Goers!!!!!!!
I have gotten several emails regarding the 2009 Magic City Classic.
The information that has been forwarded to us is incorrect.
The Talladega Sprint cup race has been pushed back to the Classic Weekend October 31,2009 by Nascar. However the hosts hotels for the Races are in Atlanta , and the overflow is in Anniston./Oxford. I have talked with the Birmingham Convention and Visitors Bureau and the host hotels. The Nascar contract is with the city of Atlanta not Birmingham. There should not be any affects when it comes to Lodging. There might be some traffic issues in Eastern B There is no need to be concerned about the 2009 Classic It is business as usual in Birmingham. Apparently, the person that has sent out these erroneous emails is a referral travel agent, seeking business
The National Alumni Assoc reserves a block of rooms every year discounted for active alumni. Do not make your reservations thru someone to get the discounted rate for the classic. The Normal rate is $270.00 and the Alumni rate is $107.00. That is for 2008 and 2009 to make a reservation you must call the hotel directly at 205-324-5000. According to the Sheraton hotel, they have no rooms set aside for the race Just AAMU and ASU.If you did not receive this information in the mail , that would mean you are not a member of our National Alumni Assoc. _Please contact Alumni Affairs to become an official alumnus of AAMU at256-372-8209
In the future, when you receive information like this, Please contact me or the National Alumni, or the University to clarify .

Recently, I've been approaching highway driving a little differently. I look for opportunities to help another motorist out. I try to be a bit more aware of a turn signal that I can respond to rather than driving in the zone. What would happen if we all approached highway driving with the focus on helping each other arrive safely at our destinations? What if it were a team effort?
Are you developing Rising Stars in your business or are they just Good-Luck-with-Getting-Your-Order-Right trainees? Are you laying out what you are expecting them to become? How do you set the stage for new employees, new contractors to become stars in your business?
